Arrival Day in Cape Town. Group transfer to your hotel The rest of the day at leisure to relax and acclimatise. Take a stroll down to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront
Day 2
Overnight: Cape Town
Our priority for today is to take the aerial cableway to the top of Table Mountain where we will take a stroll on the top of the mountain before making our way bac down. From Table Mountain we visit to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, internationally acclaimed as one of the most magnificent botanical gardens in the world and then on to Groot Constantia, one of the oldest wine producing farms in South Africa.
Day 3
Cape Town
If you are keen to visit Robben Island today offers that possibility. Alternatively, there is the possibility of a Cape Town City Tour through the Bo Kaap and Company’s Gardens, and / or a visit to the V & A Waterfront
Day 4
Overnight Simonstown
We will make our way via Sea Point, Clifton, Camps Bay & Llandudno along Victoria Drive to Hout Bay. From Hout Bay we proceed along the magnificent Chapmans Peak Drive , stopping for photo opportunities along the way to Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Scarborough and ultimately to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, where will either walk up or take the funicular to the old lighthouse, experiencing breathtaking views of False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. We then head on to the African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach before checking in to our hotel in Simonstown.
Day 5
Overnight: Hermanus
We travel via the quaint village of Kalk Bay, browsing around some of the trendy shops and galleries, after which we will make our way through St James, Fishoek , Muizenberg and Gordons Bay to Betty’s Bay and the Cape Whale Coast via the scenic and spectacular Clarence Drive. En route there is the opportunity to stop off at the Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens before arriving in Hermanus. Hermanus is widely recognised as one of the best land based whale watching destinations, and has a wonderful cliff top path along which one can stroll while enjoying beautiful views of Walker Bay and sightings of Southern Right Whales (in season – July to November). The Hemel & Aarde Valley closeby is home to some excellent cool climate wines, as well as Craft Gin & Beer.
Day 6
Overnight: De Hoop Nature Reserve
On Day 6 we make our way via Stanford, Gansbaai and Elim to Cape Agulhas, the southern most tip of Africa. From Cape Agulhas we head for de Hoop Nature Reserve via Struisbaai and Bredasdorp. De Hoop , with its spectacular white sanddunes and vivid turquoise blue ocean, is better known as the Southern Right Whale nursery of South Africa. At De Hoop we have the option of a guided eco boat trip on the De Hoop vlei, an interpretive marine walk down at the rock pools, a nature drive experience, vulture experience, birdwatching, mountain biking and hiking.
Day 7
Overnight: Knysna
After breakfast and anything else we may still want to do in the paradise of the De Hoop Nature Reserve, we head for Knysna, the beautiful Garden Route town best known for its fabled Knysna Heads.
Day 8
Overnight: Plettenberg Bay
After a leisurely breakfast and an easy start to the morning, we will spend some time taking in the beauty of the Heads, Leisure Isle and the Knysna Waterfront before heading down the coast to nearby Plettenberg Bay.
We have the day in Plettenberg Bay to enjoy what the early Portuguese explorers called Baia Formosa, meaning “the beautiful bay”. Mountain biking, Sea kayaking, whale (in season) & dolphin watching, visit the spectacular Robberg Peninsula, soak up the sun, relax & enjoy the renowned blue flag beaches , play a round of golf or go wine tasting in the Crags, South Africas newest wine route.
